Pomegranate

I love pomegranate.

I used to wait excitedly until November, and go to the grocery store, looking for the crowned ruby fruit. Sometimes I went a little too early in the season, but when the produce guy went back to check whether they were stock, he always returned with with a full box of pomegranates for me to choose from. I bought 1 or 2, and took them home, eager to enjoy them. I cut a wedge from one of the pomegranates, and broke the flesh apart underwater so that I don't stain my clothes. The rest of the pomegranate sat zip-locked in my refrigerator. I got so excited about pomegranates, but they're a little like eating crab-legs in the sense that it takes a lot of work for a small pay-out.

I've mostly stopped making the annual pomegranate purchase. Now I buy anything and everything pomegranate flavored. There's really no question -- if something I want comes in pomegranate flavor, it's the version I buy. Pomegranate Hansens? Yes. Pomegranate margarita? Yes, please. Sparkly pomegranate lotion? Yep. Pomegranate juice to reduce and use for salad dressing? Delicious.

Pomegranate blueberry yogurt? Absolutely!

Just for Fun: Little Bob & Tracy :)

When Bob and I were planning our wedding, we had some of our old pictures scanned for a book for our parents. I was looking through them this morning, and thought it would be fun to share!

Here I am ... digging in the backyard with my mom's grapefruit spoon.
This picture was from a family vacation to Club Med. I took a picture of my mom taking a picture of me. I wish I'd saved this camera ... it would be fun to have! Somewhere I have a photo album of the pictures I took as a kid. I remember photographing lots of iguanas in Club Med.
Wasn't Bob cute? ;-)
This has always been one of my favorite pictures of me. In fact, I think when my mom got it developed, it had a little blue ribbon sticker suggesting that she enlarge it.
Bob and his sister Megann at their grandparents' old beach house in Mexico. It's too bad they sold the beach house 20 years ago, it would be fun to go down to! Isn't Megann's pose adorable? :)This picture was from our very first trip to Cottonwood Cove, when we'd only been together for about a month and a half. :)This was one of the hardest days ever. When Bob and I had been together for 8 months, I flew to Austria and spent 4 months abroad. It was such a sad morning, but I'm glad I went. My semester abroad was one of the best things ever!
I'm not crazy about this picture, but Bob really likes it! During Fall 2002, I spent a month working in San Francisco & Bob came up to visit. The view from the top of Coit Tower was amazing!

This was Christmas 2002 or 2003.
Our first professional photograph together was at a family photoshoot in 2004. (I wish I knew the photographer's name ... I'd credit her!)
This next picture is probably from 2005, when we went up to Redwood City to visit family for Thanksgiving, and visited an Egyptian museum. The picture is with my sister & grandma.
That's all for now! Images I'm working on are done exporting from Lightroom, so I should get back to work! ;-)

Jakson: Baby Session ... Sneak Peek!

Today I finally had the chance to do a proper baby session with Kevin & Julia's baby boy, Jakson. Jakson had a long day, and was a trooper in allowing me to photograph him. Jakson was photographed by himself, as well as with his parents and "big sister," Parker. Here's a peek at what's in store:

As a little bonus, here's an image I took in the hospital the day after Jakson was born. His great-grandfather is holding him. :)

Social media ... here to stay!

I don't know about you, but I spend a lot of time on Facebook. A lot. I love it because I can keep in touch with friends, family, photographers, clients, and wedding vendors. Facebook has been an absolutely crucial part of my business, and I can't imagine not using it. Sometimes I imagine how I will look back at the time I spent on Facebook. Will it be this decade's "pet rock"? After happening across this video tonight, I think that social media is here to stay!

Are you with me on social media? Are we friends yet?

Angelika + Jan: Married ... Sneak Peek!

Last night I had the opportunity to photograph Angelika and Jan's wedding at the Heritage Museum with Heather McCullah from One Shot Beyond. Angelika choose the Heritage Museum for its many photo-op locations, and I could not be happier that she did. The museum grounds were truly gorgeous, and had many wonderful locations for photographs. Here's a peek at what's in store:

So Random. Vol 1

Do you ever poke around on websites to find the most random thing you possibly can? Every now and then I like to do this. I like finding things that are really wierd -- like (um, kids cover your eyes) animal scrotum coin purse I once saw on Ebay -- and really cool, like chocolate covered strawberries that looked like baseballs I saw on Red Envelope.

Here are a few randoms for today:

I can't imagine carrying the weight of a dryer on my shoulders, but it looks like it works, since the shoulder dolly has 4.5 stars from the reviews!

You, too, can rock with your own M.J. glove.

And how about the most expensive watch on Amazon? Do you feel like dropping $100K in your Amazon check-out? =)

Its fun to see what's out there, and what someone, somewhere is in the market for! Thanks for playing along! =)

Allison + Rob: Married!

As I go through this wedding season, I am discovering that I have a favorite series of images from each wedding I shoot. I love Jocelyn & Ryan's first look. I love Sarah & Nate's bouquet shots & their gold-hued first dance. And I love Allison & Rob's ceremony.

I've always been happy with my ceremony images, but I am absolutely thrilled with how Allison & Rob's ceremony images came out. I love these images for many reasons -- the location, the light, the color, the laughter -- but none of it would have been possible without squeezing around the back side of the wedding gazebo so that I faced the couple. Being able to see Allison & Rob's faces during the ceremony made all the difference. There were lots of laughs as the officiant talked about why Allison and Rob love each other. It was fun to watch Allison's reaction as the unavoidable line came, the one she knew would be part of her ceremony the moment it escaped her lips in pre-marital counseling ... and it was something about Rob's lack of fluff ... ;-)

I worked with some awesome vendors at Allison & Rob's wedding. Valerie Worsham at San Dimas Canyon Golf Course put together a gorgeous wedding. Steve Luxenberg from Weddings by SML and his crew were amazing. They were super-easy to work with & thrilled the wedding guests with their "Same Day Edit". Kim Sanders and her crew from Art With Nature created beautiful bouquets and juicy centerpieces. John from After Dark Entertainment kept the guests dancing all night!

Allison & Rob - Congratulations on your marriage! I had a wonderful time documenting your day, and I loved hearing all about your honeymoon in Antigua! May you have a long & happy life together! =)

Here are a few of my favorite shots, followed by a slideshow. Enjoy! =)

Please enjoy the slideshow:

Sarah + Jimmy: Married ... sneak peek!

Last night I had the pleasure of photographing my friends Sarah & Jimmy get married at Kindred Community Church. More images are coming in a few weeks, but here's a peek at one of my favorites. I could have shot in the perfect dusk light for hours.

Jimmy & Sarah - Thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding day. Have an incredible time in Fiji!

Quiet Colorado

Wow, I can't believe it's already August 7, and this is the first blog post of the month! I've been hard-at-work on Allison & Rob's wedding images -- they will be up on the blog (and Facebook, online viewing, etc) in the coming week, and I'm excited to show them off. I'm shooting Sarah & Jimmy's wedding tomorrow, and you can expect a sneak peek from their big day, also! In the meantime, here's a little something to hold you all over. If you're at your desk working (or pretending to work ... lets face it, you ARE on my blog right now!), you can dream that it's a beautiful day on the quiet Colorado River. Enjoy! =)

The images on this blog are the sole property of Tracy Norred and may not be printed without permission. However, you are welcome to include them on your own personal web sites (ie.
